AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine group.
The questline centers on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Transformations
The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Content
Players who accomplish the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
